May

Hi everyone! Happy summer!

I guess it isn’t officially summer yet but it is finally starting to feel like it. If like me, you have a keen eye for detail, and noticed that this blog post is coming through after the month it’s titled for rather than at the beginning of the month like my previous blogs had, well, first of all, are you looking for a job? With such a knack for structure and organization, you should get into event coordination! That said, my reasoning for this switch was about 40% because I like the idea of sharing the details of the month prior, and 60% because we are busy! So busy that we have recently added another event manager to our team and we are SO excited about it. More on him later!

We kicked May off with power and coordination for a private birthday party. Stoney Hill Pizza provided their perfect pies, and Ophelia’s Treats came through with the most delicious East to West Coffee soft serve. We worked with Tilton Tents to provide the simple and early spring themed rentals, and I arranged lots of mini Daffodils, Daisies, and Tulips from Morrice Florist. It came together beautifully and we were grateful for an unseasonably warm early spring day. Speaking of weather, here’s a hot tip (because when you are an event coordinator you also become a meteorologist by nature). Looking at the forecast any further out than 5 to 7 days is a great way to feel a sense of stress or relief for no reason- those predictions are about 50% or less accurate. At about 5 days out it is a good idea to start keeping your eyes on things, and once you hit 2- 3 days out, you are safe to plan accordingly. That said, if you know New England, you know things can still always change last minute and it is great to have an inclement weather plan no matter what.

Next, we were so excited to power a two day world music gathering put on by Rick Bausmen. Getting the call from him was the coolest full circle moment for Zach and I. We both grew up on MV and Rick Bausmen spent years bringing his musical expertise and drum workshops to elementary school classrooms all around the Island. We agreed and reminisced about how those days were the absolute BEST, which is definitely a collective consensus for Vineyard kids. We were so grateful to get to see him again and we can’t wait to see and share the pictures from the weekend. We were hit with a few passing downpours, but it was nothing our generator and his event space couldn’t handle.

Aside from those two events we spent May working on a few upcoming weddings in June, September and October, with some additional events in between. We also booked a few more events for 2026 that we are so excited for. Oh, and if you hate that CCP logo in the top left of your screen right now- me too. Kay Frank is coming to our rescue to help with a bit of a re-brand, and we are so grateful to be working with her.

Aside from the work stuff, we spent May doing all of my favorite spring activities- getting the yard cleaned up for summer, enjoying the reopening of our favorite seasonal restaurants, and letting our dogs take their last few walks of the season on the soon to be crowded and regulated local beaches. I know I’ll blink and another Vineyard summer will have come and gone, so I am remembering not to blink! Especially when driving through five corners- definitely never blink then.

Until next time,
